General information only
The pages on this site explain how soakwells and stormwater drainage work, the ways they commonly fail, and what tends to be involved in putting them right.
That is general information. It is not advice about your property. We have not seen your block, your roof area, your pipe runs, your ground conditions or your existing drainage, and all five of those change the answer.
Do not rely on anything here as a substitute for having a licensed plumber look at the actual site.
Council requirements
Where this site refers to City of South Perth requirements — including the on-site disposal rule, the soakwell volume figure for minor additions, and the eight drainage precincts — those references are a plain-English summary provided to give you a sense of what is involved.
They are not a complete statement of the requirements, they may change, and several suburbs we service fall under other local authorities with their own rules. The council itself is the authority on what applies to your property, and we check the actual requirements for your address as part of the job.
No pricing on this site
There are no prices, price ranges or estimates on this site. Drainage costs depend on volume required, depth, access, what is over the top of the existing system and the state of the pipe runs — none of which can be judged remotely.
Any figure you are given becomes real when a licensed plumber has attended and put it in writing.
Descriptions of common faults
Where we describe what a failing soakwell or a blocked drain tends to look like, that is to help you recognise that something is worth looking at. It is not a diagnosis, and the same surface symptom regularly has several very different causes underneath.
We are not asking you to work out which one you have. That is the job.
Photographs
Photographs on this site show the HouseWorks Plumbing & Gas team and their work vehicles. They are illustrative. They are not photographs of any particular customer's property or of a specific job described on the page they appear on.
