What we are

A licensed plumbing and gas fitting business that works across the southern river suburbs. This site covers one part of what we do — storm water and soakwells — because it is a job people search for by itself, and because the answers are specific enough to deserve their own explaining.

We are a service-area business. There is no shopfront, no showroom and no yard in Como. We come to you, which for drainage work is the only way it could sensibly happen anyway.

Licences

For everything on this site, the plumbing licence is the one that matters. Soakwells, stormwater runs and drainage are plumbing work. The gas licence is part of the business and it is genuinely held, but it is not what you are ringing about here.

The person who quotes your job is the person who does it. Work is not subcontracted out to whoever is available.

How we work

We come and look first, at no charge

$0 call-out fee. Drainage cannot be quoted properly from a phone call, because the four things that commonly fail all look identical from the surface and the fix for each is different. So we come and find out.

You get the price in writing before anything starts

Free quote, given on site. Transparent pricing with no hidden costs — the written price is the price, and nothing turns up at the end that was not on it at the beginning.

You are not committed by asking

If you would rather not go ahead, you owe nothing and that is the end of it.

We will tell you when the smaller job is the right one

If a well is sound and the real problem is a silted chamber or one broken length of pipe, that is a much cheaper job than a replacement and we will say so. A quote for work that does not need doing is not worth having.

Quick response

You get a call back and a time, not a vague promise. What we will not do is claim availability we do not have — see the hours below.

Customer satisfaction guaranteed

That is our commitment on every job.

Our hours

Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm.

No after-hours service, no weekends, no 24-hour line. Urgent drainage work gets brought forward inside those hours, and we say honestly on the phone how soon that can be. How we handle urgent work

Why a site just for Como soakwells

Because Como's drainage has a particular shape to it, and general advice does not fit it well.

The suburb was subdivided in 1905 as the Como Estate, and its main building years ran through the 1950s and 1960s. That is old drainage by any measure. But the more interesting fact is what has happened to the blocks since: only about a third of Como's occupied dwellings are now separate houses, with semi-detached homes, townhouses and villas making up more than half, across 7,645 private dwellings in 6.7 square kilometres.

Subdivision adds roof and paving. It very often does not add soakwell capacity. The result is a suburb full of drainage systems being asked to handle considerably more water than anyone ever sized them for — which is why so much Como work turns out to be a capacity problem rather than a breakage.

Knowing that going in is worth something. So is knowing that the City of South Perth requires all stormwater to stay on site, and that its eight drainage precincts do not all carry the same requirements.
